A 56-year-old Bartlett woman died following a two-vehicle crash in unincorporated Marengo Sunday afternoon.
On June 12, 2022, at 2:55 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Marengo Police Department, Marengo Fire Department and Huntley Fire Department responded to a two vehicle crash involving a red 2018 Chevrolet Silverado and a grey 2014 Ford F-150 on West Coral Road at Maple Street.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the Chevy Silverado, driven by a 51-year-old North Carolina woman and sole occupant, was traveling north on Maple Street approaching a stop sign at the intersection of West Coral Road. The Ford F-150, occupied by a 67 year-old Hampshire woman driver and a 56 year old Bartlett woman passenger, was traveling east on West Coral Road approaching the intersection at Maple Street. For unknown reasons the Chevy Silverado proceeded through the intersection without stopping at a stop sign and a crash occurred.
The driver of the Chevy Silverado, was transported to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Ford F-150 suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley. The passenger of the Ford F-150 was transported to Javon Bae Mercy Hospital in Rockford with life threatening injuries where she later died.
The intersection of West Coral Road and Maple Street was closed for approximately four hours.
The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the Winnebago County Coroner’s Office.
