The Special Services Division encompasses many different aspects of the Sheriff’s Office, from training to media relations, all handled by both sworn and civilian employees.
Training
The Training Division is dedicated to offering the highest-quality training available to all Sheriff’s Office employees. A wide range of training programs are offered both in-house and off-site, covering everything from job-specific knowledge to career development and leadership skills.
The Sheriff’s Office is proud to have their own outdoor range used for all firearms training, as well as a new training facility in development located in Cary. The new training facility will be home to classrooms, an indoor range, a controlled tactics room, and more.
The Training Division is also responsible for facilitating and instructing an in-house academy for all patrol and corrections recruits. All recruits are required to successfully complete a field training program upon hiring.

CHILD FINGERPRINTING ID SYSTEM
Our electronic fingerprinting identification system scans and prints a record of your child’s ten fingerprints and photos. We provide this system at community events, such as the McHenry County Fair and the annual Children’s’ Health & Safety Fair at McHenry County College. Please contact Community Relations to request the Child Fingerprinting ID System for your event.
Shop with a cop
In part with McHenry County Police Charities and other local departments, our deputies take groups of underprivileged children from McHenry County to local stores where they are given a set amount of money to spend on gifts they may not have otherwise received. Each child also receives a coat and any winter gear they may need. We believe it is important for each child to know they are deserving of such gifts as well as to develop the relationship between police officers and the community.
