McHenry County Sheriff's Office provides training opportunities for police and civilians throughout the year.
Spanning across three different training locations, McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is proud to bring a range of trainings and experienced instructors to police officers and civilians across Chicagoland and southern Wisconsin. Our trainings are most commonly hosted at the Sheriff’s Office in Woodstock or the Community Foundation in downtown Crystal Lake. We are looking forward to expanding our trainings to the McHenry County Training Facility in Cary once construction is complete.

Trauma Informed 1 Hour Training for Public Safety Civilians
Wednesday, January 8 & Thursday, January 14 | McHenry County Sheriff’s Office – Large Classroom
At times, we encounter members of the public who are difficult to communicate with, making it challenging to assist them and creating frustration for everyone involved. To address this, the Police Social Work Division is pleased to host Gary Rukin, the Trauma-Informed Coordinator for the McHenry County Mental Health Board, for a valuable one-hour training session.
This session will provide insight into the reasons behind agitation and difficult behavior, increase awareness of mental illness and the effects of trauma, and equip you with practical tips and strategies. By applying this knowledge, we can enhance our understanding, improve communication, and make our roles more manageable and effective.
