Motorcycle Unit
The McHenry County Sheriff's Office patrols with two 2009 Harley
Davidson 1690cc Electra Glide motorcycles. Their use allows
for Sheriff's personnel to engage with the community through
parades, dignitary escorts, and motorcycle ride benefits.
They are also utilized for responding to calls for service, traffic
patrol, and responding to off road areas. The unit is made up
of two deputies and one sergeant. Each motor officer is
required to pass an 80 hour course which pushes each officer's
riding ability through slow maneuvers and high speed braking and
evasive tactics.
