Press Release- Traffic Stop Results in Drug Arrest

On October 22, 2013 at approximately 10:00 P.M. investigators from the McHenry County Sheriff's Office initiated a traffic stop in the area of Illinois Route 120 and Ringwood Road, McHenry, which resulted in multiple traffic and drug charges.

Investigators traveling behind a grey 1999 Ford Ranger pickup truck, westbound on Illinois Route 120, observed the driver fail to stop at the stop light.  A traffic stop was initiated, and investigators determined that the driver, William L. Ilkka, was operating a motor vehicle with a suspended driver's license. It was suspected that William L. Ilkka was driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. After Ilkka failed several field sobriety tests, he was taken into custody. While conducting a search of the vehicle, it was determined that William L. Ilkka was in possession of drug paraphernalia, cannabis, hypodermic syringes, and eleven baggies containing heroin which had a combined weight of 3.6 grams.
